Essential Gardening Cultivation Guide
The best soil conditions will be a day or two after rain, when the ground is moist but not wet. Wet soil cannot be tilled properly and will dry in clumps. Exercise restraint when using any rotary cultivator. Aggressive or excessive tilling can have detrimental effects on soil structure and the beneficial organisms within it. If you have new plantings in the ground or are working in tight and confined areas, you can remove blade wheels as needed for better access and efficiency. Before you begin work, prepare the area by removing stones, rocks, root outcroppings, or any item that may cause damage to the cultivator tines. It is best to be patient and work the soil when it is moist.
